Multiple Versions of IE on One PC
This is apparently old news, but since I just happen to stumble upon it tonight, I thought I’d bring it back to the surface for all to witness it’s wonder. This was initially posted about 10 months ago.
It’s a way for you to install previous versions of Internet Explorer on your PC while keeping your native version. This is great if you do any kind of web development. I don’t know how many times I’ve developed something that looked great and felt great but when I looked at it on another PC (with a different browser), it was awful. Sometimes blocking out the most important parts of the page!
I usually just test on IE6 and Fierfox, but I got burned on that with a sweet little axaxified wordpress theme I was making. I was about 90% done when IE7 came out (well, when I installed it) and my pages was ridiculously deformed. My menus pushed off the pages to the left and right, and my title overlaying my main content.
Well, no more. Well, at least I’ll know it before I give up on fixing it
I have IE 7 and I just installed 6.0… and 4.0 for fun
Seems to work pretty well.
Anyway, I just thought I’d mention this since it was news to me. I hope others will find this interesting and get some good use out of it. Hopefully this is news to more than just me too
Check it out here.
I like the bit where you say now it is nice to know there is a problem before giving up fixing it.
I go for the twin options of choosing ignorance as being bliss and going for the most simple design possible. It’s just to much of a pain trying to find all the hacks to sort out the different niggles.
How hard do you think it would be to make a web browser that just did as it was supposed to do??
