Governor’s Cup Comes Back to St Louis

images1.gifThanks to Wikipedia, here’s a quick description of what I’m talking about.

The Missouri Governor’s Cup is the trophy awarded to the winner between the NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs and St. Louis Rams’ annual meetings in the preseason and occasional contests in the regular season.

The contest has been a staple of Missourian’s football teams from 1968 to 1987 (between the Chiefs and St. Louis’ first football team, the Cardinals) and 1996 to the present (featuring the Chiefs and newly-relocated Rams). The local press occasionally refer to the game as The Battle of Missouri, or the I-70 Series. The Chiefs and Rams meet every year in the pre-season but have only met four times in the regular season.

Ahhh yeah, we finally won it (10-3, but still).  Seems to me like it’s been a long time since we have…  like, when the Ram’s were GOOD.  That’s why I’m so excited.  As usual, I have high hopes for the Rams, and I know preseason is NOTHING, but this game always seems to be a sign of what’s to come :-)

 Go Rams!

Yes! Finally took a Govs cup. About time!

I agree though – even though the starters didn’t play that last game, finishing 2-2 and generally performing well is always a sign of things to come.

I have a good feeling about this season, looking forward to watching them kick ass!

It’s going to be a tight division. If we win a few early games against the division, I think we’re going to roll! I’m hoping for 10 wins.
